Medevac in Plymouth Sound

The Plymouth Coastguard Rescue Team, a lifeboat from Plymouth RNLI and the Coastguard helicopter from Newquay were scrambled on Oct 15 at 10 a.m. to deal with a medical emergency on the 'Artania' in Plymouth Sound. A person on board had to be taken off the vessel while it was at anchor during its one-day stop. The Coastguard helicopter hoisted the patient and then landed on Plymouth Hoe. Two passengers medevaced on the Elbe

Two sick passengers were medevaced from the 'Artania' on the Elbenear Altenbruch in evening of Sep 22, 2023. At around 11 p.m., the “Artania” reported to the MRCC of the DGzRS in Bremen that two people on board needed urgently needed medical help. At the time, the “Artania” was on its way from Hamburg to Portsmouth, UK, and was sailing approximately near Brunsbüttel. The lifeboat 'Anneliese Kramer' of the DGzRS station Cuxhaven took on board an emergency doctor and two rescuers from the Cuxhaven fire department. The lifeboat then went alongside in moderate sea conditions. The patients were stabilized and then transferred onto the lifeboat. The 'Anneliese Kramer' arrived back in Cuxhaven on Sep 23 at around 12:20 a.m., where the patients were handed over to the escue service for further transport to hospital. Medevac off Thira

The Port Authority of Thira was informed in the afternoon of May 28, 2022, that a 28-year-old crew member of the 'Artania' which had sailed to the anchorage of the bay of Fira, Thira, was in need of medical care. He was disemberked and transported safely to the Athiniou port in Thira, from where he was taken to the Central Polyclinic of Santorini for medical examinations. Then he was carried to a clinic in Athens for further monitoring and treatment.
