Ferry hijacked and run aground

The 'Armenistis', en route from Lagos to Dakar with 12 people on board, was attacked 50 nautical miles west of Sherbro Island in pos. 07 11 00 N, 013 16 00 W, in the waters of Sierra Leone on Nov 15, 2022, at around 7.30 p.m. by seven armed men who used a small boat to board the vessel. The hijackers took control of the vessel and steered it until it ran aground. Thhey then disembarked and abandoned the vessel. None of the crew were injured, who had retreated into the citadel.

Alllision with breakwater

The Port Authority of Mytilene was informed in the afternoon of Aug 3, 2021, by the Captain of the 'Armenistis' that during the departure of the ship from the port to Myrina and Mytilene, its stern allided wto breakwater due to a malfunction of the main engine controls. The ship moored again with the assistance of the tug 'Ioannis'. The Port Authority of Mytilene, which conducted a preliminary investigation, banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness by the attending classification society. The ship remained stationary in port as of Aug 4.

Allision in Mytilene

The 'Armenistis' allided with the pier of the port of Mytilene during the mooring process on Jan 23, 2021. The ship was operating the route Thessaloniki-Lemnos-Mytilene. Np one was injured. The three passengers and the 27 trucks disembarked safely at the port, where their final destination was. The ferry was temporarily banned from sailing.
