Alsvin pushed to Giessendam for repairs
On Sep 29 the "Alsvin" which had sunk on the Ijssel Sea on July 5, was transported to the shiyard Den Breejen in Hardinxveld-Giessendam for repairs. The casualty was being pushed by the tug "Vliestroom" and delivered at the yard on Oct 3. Barge raised and towed to Lelystad
HEBO Maritime Service lifted the "Alsvin" on July 19 at 11 a.m. with the two sheerlegs "Hewbo Lift 6" and "Hebo Lift 8", The hull was then dewatered with six capable pumps. The recovery went according to plan thanks to the calm weather. Around noon the ship was almost entirely above water. Then the vessel was towed to the shelter port in Lelystad where it was going to be inspected and prepared for the journey to a shipyard. The cargo of 3,000 tons of slag was lightered by the crane ship "Progress" of De Waard from Lekkerkerk on July 18. As a precaution, an oil boom was placed around the ship. Alsvin is coming up
Calm weather enabled salvors to go ahead with the salvage of the "Alsvin" so the ship should be up at the end of the afternoon of July 19. The salvors have six pumps in operation to dewwater the ship. Then it will be dragged to Lelystad and inspected at a shipyard.
