Difficult medevac off Scheveningen
On Feb 15, 2012, at 2.30 p.m.alarm was raised at the KNRM-station Scheveningen after a crew man of the "Pramesti" had suffered a leg fracture due to a fall. The Radio Medical Service had advised to take the man to hospital, and the lifeboat "Kitty Roosmale Nepveu" from Scheveningen was launched. At 4 p.m. the boat had reached the tanker which was at anchor then. The wave height was such that it was not possible to take over the patient, who had to be transported by stretcher. After a lifeboat man had boarded the tanker with a stretcher via pilot ladder it was agreed to weigh the anchor and get the lieboat leeward to the tanker. The "Kitty Roosmale Nepveu" sailed parallel to the tanker, and a crane of the "Pramesti" lowered the patient in the stretcher onto the deck of the liefeboat. The patient was stabilized and reached the port of Scheveningen at 6 p.m. where he was transferred to the staff of an ambulance that took him to the Bronovo Hospital in Den Haag.
