Collision at Lobith

Sun Nov 27 15:47:13 CET 2016 Timsen

In dense fog the unloaded Czechian barge "Labe 6", 1164 ts (EU-No.: 09551070), bound to Antwerp, was in bow-on-bow-collision with the "Comus", 3021 ts (EU-No.: 06003670), which was coming from Wesel, at Lobith in the early morning of Nov 26, 2016. Both ships were considerably damaged above the waterline. Rijkswaterstaat attended quickly with the "RWS 43". One man was slightly wounded, but could be treated on board. The "Labe 6" and "Comus" anchored after the incident and then berthed in Lobith/Tolkamer. The "Comus" left Tolkamer on Nov 27 around 6 a.m. and continued the voyage to Dortmund. The "Labe 6" remained in the Bijland basin. The cause of the collisionwas under investigation.

Barge lost containers off Rotterdam

Tue Dec 04 19:10:21 CET 2012 Timsen

On Dec 4, 2012, at noon, the "Comus" lost two containers on the waterway of the Breeddiep off Rozenburg in strong winds and rough seas. Several containers shifted on the deck of the sbarge which was carrying mostly empty boxes. Several ships started to recover the boxes, also the Harbour Service was on scene. The "K.R.V.E. 42" and "K.R.V.E. 59" of the Kon. Roeiers Vereniging Eendracht tried to push one of the containers into the Berg Port which succeeded after several attempts. A mobile crane was called to remove it from the water around midday. The second was recoevered by the buoy layer "Rotterdam" with its own crane. The "Comus" was escorted by a Police boat to the Maasvlakte. It was moored in the Hartel Port of Rotterdam around 1 p.m. Dutch report with photos: http://scheepvaartnieuws.blogspot.nl/2012/12/containers-op-drift-op-nieuwe-waterweg.html
