Fishing vessel holed in grounding
In the late evening of Sep 9, 2013, the "Amazon" ran aground off Gustav with a crew of four. The ship managed to refloat on its own and headed towards Naantali. The Finnish Coast Guard vessel "Uisko" proceeded for investigations. Authorities made contact with the ship, the crew of which assured that everything was in order. But the crew of the "Uisko" once on scene noticed that the ship's fuel tank was leaking. Most of the fuel oil had leaked into the sea. The fuel tank had contained about 7,000 liters of fuel oil. The Coast Guard also discovered three large holes in the hull. The Räddningsverket was summoned to recover the oil, and the ship was forbidden to continue the journey. Then the ship's engine stopped, and she was not able to drop anchor. The "Amazon" was waiting for a tug, while the "Uisko" remained on standby.
