Barge refloated
On Feb 19 the "Anthrazit", which had run aground on the River Ruhr shortly before reaching the River Rhine at Duisburg-Ruhrort could be refloated after unsuccesful attempts to drag her free. On Feb 17 the "Esperanto 3" (ENI-No.: 02331837 together with her barge "Esperanto 4" ENI-No.: 02332182) in vain had tried to pull the "Anhrazit" off. Also the cargo barge "So long" (ENI-No.: 07001741) was engaged pulling a second rope. After several unsuccesful attempts and torn ropes the couple resumed her voyage to Basel. Finally the rising water level helped the "Anhrazit" to get off again on Feb 19. She then made the short hop to the Meidericher Shipyard where she berthed at 7.30 p.m. for inspections of her hull. Grounding on the Rhine at Duisburg
In the foremidday of Feb 17, 2018, the "Anthrazit“, 1868 ts (EU-No.: 4004990;), ran aground on the Rhine in Duisburg-Ruhrort. The unloaded shp got stuck at the height of the Rhine Orange at the conjunction with the Ruhr. The 63 year old master had overseen a mark and slammed onto the shore. Navigation on the river was not hampered. An initial salvage attempt by the "Esperanto 3/4" (MMSI: 244630717) failed. The barge also suffered water ingress. Actually it was waiting for a rising water level to get off again.
