Trawler discovered debris which might come from missing Hercules aircraft
During the search for a missing Lockheed C-130 Hercules of the Chilean Air Force, the 'Antarctic Endeavour' on Dec 11, 2019, has discovered foam pieces in the sea which could belong to the aircraft which had disappeared on Dec 9 with 38 people aboard over the Southern Ocean. They could come from the area surrounding the tanks installed in the wings. After the contact got lost, an SAR operation with ships, satellites and 13 aircraft was started. The debris was found about 30 kilometers south of the last known position of the Hercules. The 'Antarctic Endavour' recovered the debris and took it to Punta Arenas for investigations.
