Near miss in Helsingborg

Sat Feb 15 21:07:53 CET 2014 Timsen

Enroute from Falkenberg to Rostock the "Frigga" was just minutes from crashing into the North pier in Helsingborg in the evening of Feb 14, 2014, having forgotten to alter the course towards the Öresound. For several minutes it did not respond to several phone calls by the VTS. The ship was heading south, but did not veer as necessary towards the monitoring buoy M4, but came in and crossed the incoming traffic routes. It was still unknown why it missed the turn, as well as the reason why the crew did not respond to contact attempts. The crew had not navigated active, they missed the whole turn. A report on the event was sent to the Swedish Coast Guard. The vessel docked in Rostock on Feb 15 around noon.
