Technical failure in Istanbul Strait
The "NS Angela", en route from Larnaca to Tekirdag, suffered a technical failure during the transit of the Istanbul Strait and dropped anchor at Karanlik Liman anchorage on June 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. The vessel's Strait passage permission was temporarily cancelled by the Strait authority until the completion of permanent repairs. After the repair works were carried out by the crew, the ship resumed sailing and berthed in the port of Tekirdag on June 20 at midnight.
Technical failure in Istanbul Strait
The "NS Angela", en route from Thessaloniki to Gemlik suffered a technical failure during the passage of the Istanbul Strait and dropped anchor at the Karanlik liman anchorage on March 8, 2018. The strait passage permission was temporarily cancelled until the completion of permanent repairs. The vessel continuted the voyage after repairs and berthed in Gemlik on March 10 at 8.40 a.m. She sailed again on March 11 at 4 a.m. bound to Gebze, ETA March 11.
Unconscious master medevaced off disabled freighter in rough seas
The "Angela" which had sailed from Castellon without cargo on Oct 5, 2015, suffered engine failure in rough seas on Oct 12 around 170 miles off the Sicilian coast. To make things worse, the 55-year old Albanian master lost consciusness and needed immediate medical care. The rescue helicopter AW 139 CP Nemo 11-05 of the 2º Nucleo Aereo Guardia Costiera in Catania was dispatched in the afternoon with a doctor of the Soccorso dell’Ordine di Malta (CISOM) on board which took off from the Etna Base and successfully hoisted the patient. He was delivered at the Crotone Airport at 5.20 p.m. and medically treated. The ship meanwhile dropped anchor off Sarande.
