Ferry suffered water ingress
The 'Fløyfjell' started to take in water outside Tromsø in the afternoon of Nov 12, 2019. At 4.42 p.m., the crew notified the National Rescue Center Northern Norway that the ship had water ingress in the engine room and they started the pump system. The engine was stopped for this purpose. When the situation was under control, the 'Fløyfjell' with its 220 passengers on board returned to Tromsø. The engine was running, but the ferry was escorted by an NSSR lifeboat as a precaution. It docked to the quay of the speedboat terminal shortly after, where the passengers were safely disembarked. Speed ferry disabled by obstruction in propeller
The "Fløyfjell" that runs between Tromsø and Harstad was disabled by an obstruction in the propeller. The ship had sailed from Finnsnes on June 29, 2017, at 8.20 a.m. and was sidelined in Engenes at 10.20 a.m. where the propulsion was to be cleared by divers. Another boat was to pick up the stranded passengers there and carry them on. It was hoped to have the speedboat back in service after noon. Otherwise a replacement vessel would have to be called from Harstad.
