Ferry suffered water ingress

Wed Nov 13 11:34:52 CET 2019 Timsen

The 'Fløyfjell' started to take in water outside Tromsø in the afternoon of Nov 12, 2019. At 4.42 p.m., the crew notified the National Rescue Center Northern Norway that the ship had water ingress in the engine room and they started the pump system. The engine was stopped for this purpose. When the situation was under control, the 'Fløyfjell' with its 220 passengers on board returned to Tromsø. The engine was running, but the ferry was escorted by an NSSR lifeboat as a precaution. It docked to the quay of the speedboat terminal shortly after, where the passengers were safely disembarked. Ferry damaged in collision with ice flow

Fri Mar 23 11:33:01 CET 2018 Timsen

In the evening of March 22, 2018, the "Fløyfjell" was damaged in the collision with an ice flow. The speedboat was on a trip to Harstad when it hit a large ice sheet and suffered damage to the hull in Gisundet, north of Finnsnes. Passengers had to leave the ship in Finnsnes and the ferry company started working on finding an alternative route to Harstad. At 11 p.m. it was clear that 35 passengers would be sent by taxi, while the five got accommodation at Finnsnes and proceeded to Harstad in the morning of March 23. The "Fløyfjell" was sent to a yard in Harstad the same evening to assess the damage and develop a repair plan.A bus was inserted to provide service from Harstad to Tromsø for the time being.

Speed ferry disabled by obstruction in propeller

Thu Jun 29 10:35:56 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Fløyfjell" that runs between Tromsø and Harstad was disabled by an obstruction in the propeller. The ship had sailed from Finnsnes on June 29, 2017, at 8.20 a.m. and was sidelined in Engenes at 10.20 a.m. where the propulsion was to be cleared by divers. Another boat was to pick up the stranded passengers there and carry them on. It was hoped to have the speedboat back in service after noon. Otherwise a replacement vessel would have to be called from Harstad.
