Wheelhouse torn off in allision with bridge
In the morning of Aug 25, 2011, the "Anclajo" around 6.30 a.m. allided with a bridge spanning the Dortmund-Ems-Canal in Lingen-Biene. The wheelhouse was broken off due to the impact, the damage was assessed to be 100.000 Euro. The captain had remarked the bridge tool late due to dense fog and was unable to lower the wheelhouse in time. After the allision, the drifting vessel blocked the canal for some time until it could be moored at the quay of a nearby concrete factory. The canal was re-opened at 9.30 a.m. The "Anclajo" had unloaded its cargo in the port of Biene before and was northboudn when hitting the bridge which seemed not to have suffered damage.
