SAR operation for eight people in life rafts after ship sank

On Sep 18, 2024, the 'An Binh Phat 68', en route from the Thanh Hoa province to the Quang Ngai province, carrying 4,000 tons of crushed stone, destined to Ky Ha port, developed a list to port side and sank about seven kilometres from the sea of Binh Hai, Binh Minh (Thang Binh), in pos. 15o 43'N 108 o 33E . The Coast Guard, which was alerted at 1.42 p.m., dispatched ships to rescue the eight crew members, who saved themselves onto two life rafts which were drifting near the sinking site amid waves of six to seven meters height. The Coast Guard has requested support from the 'Coast Guard ship 9001' from the northwest of Cu Lao Cham, which rescued the castaways.
