Tanker broke down off Pas de Calais
On July 11, 2016, the "Amonith" suffered an engine breakdown off Boulogne-sur- Mer. The chemical tanker was carrying 4,000 tons toluene (ranked IMO3) and was 35 nautical miles inside the Traffic Separation Scheme of Pas de Calais. The damage was reported to the CROSS Gris-Nez and some time for repairs at sea requested. As the repairs proved fruitless in the night, the maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea preventively dispatched the tug "Abeille Languedoc", which was stationed at Boulogne-sur-Mer, and at the same time, asked the owner of the tanker to consider towing. The owner subsequently signed a contract with the company Les Abeille for towing. The convoy arrived off Dunkirk on July 12 at 3 p.m. where the tanker was anchored, awaiting the arrival of a repair team mandated by the shipowner.
