Grounding off Hoefn
The "Amber" ran aground on a sandbar, when entering the port of Hornafjordur in the morning of Dec 9, 2018. The ship was loaded with a cargo of salt and had sailed from Ceuta on Dec 1. The process to refloat the vessel with the evening?s high tide did not work out. The ship was refloated with the flood on Dec 11 and berthed in Hoefn at 11.10 a.m.
Repairs of fire damage completed
The fire affected areas of the "Amber" have been sand-blasted and painted during its stay at Astilleros Guadalquivir at the port of Seville. Repairs were expected to be completed on Jan 25 and an inspector was due to visit the vessel then.
Ship under repair at Seville after fire
The Astilleros del Guadalquivir was chosen to repair the "Amber" the cargo of which had caught fire in Dec 31, 2017, in the Port of Seville due to a fermentation process. On Jan 13 the ship shifted to the Armament Dock so that repairs could be started which were expected to be completed on Jan 16. In addition to repairing the affected part of the cargo hold, the workers will clean and paint it. The ship had transported fermented beet product, and due to humidity, a spontaneous combustion had occurred.
