Medevac off Cold Bay
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 28-year-old man from the 'Phoenix' approximately 160 nautical miles northwest of Cold Bay, Alaska, on July 24, 2022. Watchstanders at the 17th Coast Guard District command center received a report at 11:24 p.m. Saturday from the Phoenix crew that a crew member was suffering severe abdominal pain. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from forward operating location Cold Bay arrived on scene at 6:13 a.m. Sunday, hoisted the patient, and transported the man to Cold Bay to an awaiting Guardian flight who transported him to Anchorage, Alaska for further medical care.
Medevac off Cold Bay
The US Coast Guard medevaced a man from the 'Phoenix' approximately 50 miles north of Cold Bay on March 21, 2022. Watchstanders in the 17th Coast Guard District command center in Juneau received the initial medevac request from the ship at 10:41 a.m. The master reported that a crew member was experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Command center personnel directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew deployed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter 'Alex Haley', while the 'Phoenix' made way towards Cold Bay. Ot hoisted the 62-year-old man from the fish processo at 3:10 p.m. The patient was flown to Cold Bay and placed in the care of an air ambulance crew.
Medevac near La Push
A US Coast Guard aircrew medically evacuated a 22-year-old male with a reported hand injury from the "Phoenix" near La Push, Washington, on May 21, 2019. t 11:28 a.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound received an emergency call from the vessel which was approximately 25 miles west of Coast Guard Station Quillayute River. The Coast Guard Cutter "Cuttyhunk" and a boat crew from the Station Quillayute River initially responded to the incident but were unable to transfer the crew member aboard their vessel due to rough sea conditions. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles medically evacuated the crew member from the fishing vessel at 1 p.m. and transported him to Port Angeles where they met awaiting local Emergency Medical Service personnel, who then took him to the Olympic Medical Center. Sea conditions were reported at 12-knot winds and 11-foot sea waves and growing.
