Man died after fall into hold

On Nov 12, 2014, a worker died aboard the "Gerhad G" which was berthing in the Mississippi Port of the Maasvlake Rotterdam at the Steinweg Handelsveem at the Beer Way at 1.40 p.m. Emergency services, including ambulance, were alerted but the man could not be resuscitated after he fell 10 meters down into the cargo hold at 2.20 p.md. What exaxtly had happened was still unclear. There were no cargo operations at the time. The Environment and Transport Inspectorate started an investigation. The police has not yet disclosed the identity of the victim.

Allision with pile at Stülper Hook

On Mar 28, 2012, at 6.10 p.m. the "Gerhard G." while enroute Luebeck-Kaliningrad allided with a lit pile on the Trave at river km 22 near Travemünde. The ship had a crew of nine and a pilot on board when it hit the pile no. 9 at the Stülper Hook after problems had occurred when switching from automatic to manual steering and the ship veered off course. The pile was bent, the ship slightly damaged. The damage was estimated to be around 15000 Euro. The water police Lübeck-Travemünde launched an investigation.
