Alost 60 persons on river cruise suffered from norovirus
Almost 60 passengers and crew members of the "AmaVerde" on a river cruise on the Rhine complained of diarrhea and vomiting in the night of July 7, 2018. Emergency doctors examined them at a stop in Andernach at 9 p.m. The symptoms indicated a norovirus infection. firefighters, ambulance service, DLRG and water police attended the ship. Three emergency physicians examined all 198 passengers and crew members, 58 of whom were diagnosed with norovirus disease. Despite the sick passengers, the "AmaVerde" was able to continue her journey as planned and no quarantine imposed. The ship sailed in the direction of Rüdesheim next.
Collision on the Main
Enroute from Nürnberg to Budapest, the Swiss flagged 135-m-river cruise ship "Amaverde" (MMSI-No .: 269057357), while enroute to Bamberg, allided with a 135-m-river cruise ship which was approaching on the Main river from the other side on Apr 9, 2017. The "Amaverde" had illegally dropped off its 160 passengers at a mobile homes lot at the Eltmanner Road Bridge from where they were taken to a city visit with coaches. In spite of a radio consultation with the downstream running, fully occupied cabin cruiser the "Amaverde" passed through the bridge, and both ships had contact with the bow. The damage was in the lower five-digit Euro range. The master of the "Amaverde" will have to pay a fine of some hundred Euros. The "Amaverde“ berthed in Bamberg around 5 p.m. before sailing on to Erlangen.
