Tanker rescued yacht crew
The "Almi Odyssey" suffered two crew members of the French yacht "Roll Over" which was sinking about 183 miles south of Gran Canaria in an operation jointly with a Maritime Rescue aircraft in the night of Nov 16, 2017. The two castaways were in good health. They had activated the emergency beacon around 8:00 p.m. A Sasemar plane based in Grando was deployed because the yacht was too far off the coast to be reached by helicopter. At the same time, Salvamento Marítimo ordered the tanker to divert to the coordinates provided by the crew of the yacht. Shortly after t10 p.m. both the aircraft and the ship arrived at the site. The "Almi Odissey" took the sailors on board and transferred them to Puerto de La Luz, where they were expected to arrive during the afternoon of Nov 17. After the successful rescue, the aircraft returned to the airport of Gran Canaria at 1 a.m.
