Familiy agreed to incineration of captain

Wed Jun 16 10:20:13 CEST 2021 Timsen

While Guangzhou Municipal Government has not yet approved disembarkation of the Captain of the 'Vantage Wave', the family of the decesased has agreed to the incineration of his body in an attempt to address the matter, despite this being against their religious traditions and personal wishes. Over the last month, the crew and the vessel have been facing a serious shortage of food and water, which has imposed additional risks to the safety of the vessel and the general health of the crew, the UK charity Human Rights at Sea said. Despite requests for food and water resupply being submitted, these continued to be rejected. The shipowner and crew fully understoodd Covid-19 pandemic prevention issues, but have said the situation was adding significant psychological pressure. The Human Rights at Sea has called for urgent action by the Chinese port authority.
