Engine failure in Igoumenitsa
The Port Authority of Igoumenitsa was informed in the morning of June 15, 2023, by the Master of the 'Alkinoos' that the ship could not start the starboard side main engine and was therefore unable to perform the scheduled sailing to Corfu with 14 cargo vehicles and 13 passengers on board. The Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa banned the ferry from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society. The ship finally left the port at 10.40 a.m. after repairs.
Lost anchor retrieved
The Central Port Authority of Corfu was informed in the morning of Jan 23, 2022 by the Captain of the 'Alkinoos', which was operating its scheduled route from the port of Igoumenitsa to Corfu, that during the arrival in port it lost its port side anchor. The ship safely berthed, and with the assistance of a private diver, the anchor was recovered from the bottom and the chain was repaired. During an inspection by a Local Ship Inspection, the anchor was found to be operating satisfactorily, and the sailing ban was lifted.
Rudder damage in Corfu
The Port Authority of Corfu was informed in the morning of June 5, 2020, that during the berthing manoever of the 'Alkinoos' a malfunction of the port side rudder was remarked. A team of inspectors of the Port Authority went on board the ship and found the damage. The ship was banned from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of maintenance of class by the attending classification society.
