Bulkcarrier refloated

Fri Mar 27 12:11:26 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'Algoma Conveyer' which ran aground on March 19 in the bay of Green Bay about five miles from the mouth of the Fox River has been refloated on MArch 26 and entered the port of Green Bay. On March 23 lightering of 3,000 metric tons of the ship’s cargo had commenced. Three tugs were then able to safely pull the 'Algoma Conveyor' back into the channel, before it returned to port under its own power. Bulkcarrier will have to be lightered

Tue Mar 24 12:57:55 CET 2020 Timsen

The U.S. Coast Guard has begun work to free the 'Algoma Conveyor' in Green Bay, about five miles from the mouth of the Fox River. The ship had lost propulsion and moved outside the navigational channel while hauling salt to the Port of Green Bay. Some of the ship's load would need to be removed to lighten it and re-float it. All 18 members of the crew remained on board.
