Fuel and pollutants drained from grounded vessel

Draining of the remaining fuel and lubrication oil on board the 'Alfonsito' has been completed as of April 6. State surveyors have completed their inspection and issued an official report to the maritime authority. A legal invitation letter has been addressed to the vessel's local agent regarding the wreck removal and refloating operation by the Harbour Master. Rhere was no response from the agent and Owner's representative, and subsequently legal action was placed by the Harbour Master against the local agent. The ship remained stationary at the grounding position in August.

Grounding off Yalova

The 'Alfonsito' during its stay at the Yalova anchorage dragged its anchor and ran aground off Yalova on Feb 28, 2020, at 6 a.m. At the time of the incident, only watchman crew was on board who were safely evacuated from the vessel. Damage survey and salvage operations haven't commenced due to adverse weather conditions in the area. Also, slight oil leaks were noticed in the sea.

Repairs in Tuzla suspended

Repairs of the "Alfonsito" in Tuzla have been suspended by June 23, 2018, due to financial problems of the owner. The ship had suffered an engine failure at Leghorn in Dec 2016, and waaken in tow to the Hidrodinamik shipyard in Tuzla on March 6, 2017, where repairs commenced by the crew.
