Master medevaced at Point Lynes
The 'Alfa Baltica', en route from Wilhelmshaven to the Hound Point Terminal, requested the medical evacuation of its master due to illness tothe MRCC Holyhead Coastguard, in position 54 18 N, 005 13 W, about 10 nautical miles west of the Isle of Man on June 12, 2022, at around 11.30 p.m. UTC. The telemedical assistance service from Aberdeen royal infirmary was utilized. The doctor recommended a medevac via helicopter to hospital. The Irish Coast Guard tasked the SAR helicopter R116 for the medevac. The vessel proceeded to the anchorage at Point Lynas to embark a new master. The sick master was hoisted and transferred to the Dublin hospital. The chief officer on board assumed his role until the arrival of the new master. The ship was moored in pos. 53° 23.72'N 004° 02.30' W as of June 14.
