Grounded bulkcarrier refloated
The 'Alexis', which had run aground following an engine failure in front of the Haydarpasa breakwater, was refloated, and ship traffic in the Bosphorus was reopened in both directions on May 8. The vessel was towed to Ahirkapi anchorage and was stationary in pos. 40° 58.73' N 028° 57.40' E as of May 9.
Grounding off Istanbul
The 'Alexis' suffered an engine failure andran aground in front of the Istanbul Haydarpaşa Breakwater, en route from Yuzhny to Port Said in the morning of May 7, 2024, and got stuck in pos. 41° 00.73'N 029° 00.05' E off Istanbul. The General Directorate of Coastal Safety deployed severeal units to the grounding site, the 'Kiyi Emniyeti 4' (MMSI: 271010032), 'Kiyi Emniyeti 6'(MMSI: 271010034) and the tugs 'Murtarma 18' (IMO: 9974890), 'Kutarma 6' (IMO: 9463176 ) and 'Kurarma 8' (IMO: 9598610). The Bosphorus ship traffic was temporarily suspended in both directions. Divers carried out an underwater inspection with the 'Nene Hatun'. Collision off Shimizu
The 'Resurgence' was in collision with the containership 'SITC Bangkok' on Oct 24, 2019, at 6.05 p.m. about 0.09 miles off the Shimizu Breakwater and damaged its bulwark and a container. The 'SITC Bangkok' sustained damages to its portside hull and bulbous bow and could not navigate under own power as a consequence. On Oct 26 it remained stationary in pos. 35° 1.91' N 138° 30.31' E off the port.
