Yacht hit tall ship while docking
While the "Alexander von Humboldt II“ was about to dock in Travemuende on Sep 16, 2012, it was hit by a yacht around 3 p.m. which had suffered an engine damage and gone adrift. The skipper had tried to avoid the collision with a sailing manoever but failed. The "Alexander von Humboldt II" in vain tried to escape the approaching boat, but a steel cable of the yacht got entangled in the jib boom of the tall ship causing the yacht's mast to break. The boat entered a boat yard for repairs, no one was hurt. German report with photos: http://www.ln-online.de/nachrichten/3556010/segler-kollidiert-mit-alexander-von-humboldt-ii
