Ferry saved 10 from sinking pleasure boat

Fri Aug 04 19:33:44 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Alcatraz Clipper" came to the rescue of 10 people on board a sinking boat in the San Francisco Bay on Aug 3, 2017. The U.S. Coast Guard received a distress call at 8:45 p.m. that a pleasure boat hit some rocks on the north end of Alcatraz. The "Lunna" was taking on water and had 10 passengers on board. The Coast Guard issued an urgent marine broadcast to all other boats in the area. The "Alcatraz Flipper" heard the call and diverted to the sinking boat. All 10 passengers were safely rescued and taken to Pier 33 in good condition. The "Lunna" sank in about 100 feet of water five minutes after the rescue.
