Cruise ship diverted for medevac
On Dec 20, 2023, at around midnight the 'AIDACosma', en route from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Puerto de Rosario, had to divert for a medevac 21 nautical miles off Tenerife. The MRCC in Tenerife of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the Helimer 26 helicopter to the ship. Short past midnight the helicopter landed on the deck for a safe embarkation of the patient for further tranport to the Tenerife North airport, from where he was transferred to a local hospital. After the patient was taken off, the ship resumed its voyage towards Fuerteventura with a slightly increased speed in order to reach the port as scheduled. It berthed on Dec 21 at 9.25 a.m.
Ship shifted from Bremerhaven to Kiel ahead ot storm Ylenia and left again hours later
The 'AIDACosma' has hastily left the port of Bremerhaven on Feb 15, 2022, ahead of the storm Ylenia and was headed to Kiel, where it is expected at the Ostsee Quay in the morning of Feb 18. The ship was supposed to get the final equipment in Bremerhaven by Feb 24 before proceeding to Hamburg, where the first journey with passengers is scheduled to start on Feb 26. But because of its unprotected berth in Bremerhaven, the ship had to be put out to sea several times during the storms of the past few weeks and wait in the German Bight until they passed. Now the ship will be fitted out in Kiel instead and sail to Hamburg via Skagen. Surprisingly the ship sailed again at 3 p.m. to ride out the storm Ylenia (Eunice) in the open water off Schönberg Beach and is due to return on Feb 19 in the afternoon once the wind has abated.
