Collision in the Marmara Sea
The bulkcarrier "Persenk" (IMO: 9578995) was in collision with the "Ahmet Can" in the Marmara Sea on May 18, 2019, at 10.30 a.m. between Marmara island and the port of Tekirdag. Both ships, which were heading towards the Dardanelles, were damaged. The bulkcarrier headded towards Tekordag Anchorage and was moored in pos. 40° 56.99' N 027° 32.58' E at 12.30 p.m. The "Ahmet Can" also dropped anchor off Tekirdag in pos. 40° 58.04' N 027° 32.43' E. The "Persenk" was en route from Istanbul to Ashdod, the "Ahmet Can" from Istanbul to Izmir. She sailed from the anchorage on May 24, bound for Izmir, ETA May 28.
Mechanical damage at Straf Kafireas
In the evening of Dec 3, 2018, the "Ahmet Kan" suffered a mechanical damage 10 miles northwest of Straf Kafireas, without requesting assistance. The ship with a 12-member crew had sailed from Abu Qir to the port of Thessaloniki. A patrol boat escorted the ship to the Karystos Bay. After safely berthing in the port of Karystos it was detained until repairs and a class inspection had been carried out. The ship arrived in Thessaloniki on Dec 6. It moored outside the harbour at 2.20 a.m.
