Anchor loss on the Elbe

The 'Agnes Essberger', en route from Bützfleth to Pietarsaari, has lost its port side bow anchor in the early morning of Dec 2, 2021, while proceeding on the Elbe river with a pilot embarked on its way to the Kiel Canal. The Portuguese maritime safety office has commenced an investigation into the incident with their German counterpart.

The wreck of the Belgian dredger "DN 31", 363 gt (IMO-Nr.: 9031193), which was sunk by the "Crystal Topaz" on Dec 9, 2010, was raised on Dec 11 at Doel. The wreck was again searched, but no bodies found. Two men aged 49 and 57 are still missing.
