Ferry suffered engine damage
On June 23, at around 9.15 a.m. the 'Agios Georgios', with 12 passengers and 70 vehicles on board, suffered mechanical damage to the port side main engine about 4.7 nautical miles north of Iraklion. The Port Authority of Iraklion was notified, while the ferry proceeded safely to the port of Iraklion. The Central Port Authority initially banned the ship from sailing. After a certificate of class mainentance and seaworthynesss was issued by the monitoring classification society, the ferry was permitted to continue sailing on its scheduled service.
Allision in Keratsini
On Jan 9, 2024, at noon, the Port Authority of Keratsini was informed that due to adverse weather conditions prevailing in the sea area of the new Drapetsonas pier, the stern-moored'Agios Georgios' broke lose and allided with the ferry 'Smyrna di Levante' (IMO: 7527887), causing some damage. No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed. The Port Department of Keratsini, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, banned the sailing of both shipsuntil the presentation of seaworthiness certificates by the classifiers monitoring them.
Engine trouble in Piraeus
The Port Authority of Piraeus was informed in the evening of Aug 29, 2020, by the Captain of the 'Olympus' which was about to set sail for the ports of Milos, Thira and Rethymnon with 82 passengers on board about a damage of an electric motor. The ship was banned from sailing until completion of repair of the damage and a class inspection by the classification society that monitors it. The passengers wiwere forwarded to their destinations with the care of the ship owner. The ship finally left port on Aug 30 at 1.10 p.m.
