Blackout off Brunsbüttel
On March 15, 2020, at 02:32 a.m. the 'Ida' encountered an engine blackout on the Elbe while approaching the Kiel Canal lock in Brunsbüttel. The ship went adrift at the height of jetty 4 and endangered navigation. The tug 'Fairplay XV' was deployed to take the ship in tow and pulled it onto the NE anchorage where it moored in pos. 53° 53.10' N 009° 9.34'" E. The ship was enroute from Rotterdam to Aabenraa. It left the anchorage in the evening of March 16 and entered the Kiel Canal at 9 p.m. on its way to Aabenraa with an ETA as of March 17, 1 p.m. now.
Collision off Holtenau
in the morning of Nov 9, 2011, the Panama flagged cargo m/v "Kovera" (IMO: 9119622), which was coming from Klaipeda was in collision with the "Ida" which was enroute Riga-Le Legue, in dense fog off Holtenau on Kiel Roads. Both ships were approaching the locks of the Kiel Canal when the "Kovera" ran into the "Ida" which was about to stop which was possibly not remarked by the Russian crew, Both ships were significantly damaged, no spills reported. The "Ida“ was ordered to anchor in the Heikendorf bight, the "Kovera" anchored off Holtenau for surveys. The police launch "Neumühlen" was on site.
