Vessel refused port entry in MOU region after repairs were not carried out
The 'African A' was detained after failing in a port state control inspection in Venice on March 12. The vessel was held with 14 deficiencies including a lack of knowledge of fire drills, missing high-pressure lines, oil leakage alarms, and inoperative rescue boats. The steering gear was also not properly maintained. It sailed from the port on March 16 but did not head to a designated repair yard in Alexandria with an ETA as of March 17 as agreed. It has now been refused further access to any port and anchorage in the Paris MOU region. The latest AIS data for the vessel showed it at anchor off Marsa Brega on April 6.
