Medevac off Sagar Island

Sat Mar 21 20:53:25 CET 2015 Timsen

In the morning of Mar 21, 2015, the Indian Coast Guard medevaced a 57-year-old mariner from the "Aerico" which was anchored 42 nautical miles south of Sagar Island. The Greek national was subsequently moved to Haldia in a hovercraft and then shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata for treatment. It was suspected that he is suffering from umbilical hernia. The bulkcarrier had left Haldia Dock Complex recently and was on her way to her next port of call when the medical emergency occurred. The Coast Guard received a request on Mar 20 at 9.05 p.m. to evacuate Sordis Dimitris, master of MV Eeriko as he was suffering severe abdominal pain.

Indonesia Reported to Detain Chinese Ships as Mineral Ban Looms

Mon Jan 13 00:10:46 CET 2014 arnekiel

Indonesia, the world’s largest mined-nickel producer, prevented at least 10 Chinese freighters leaving port as a ban on the export of unprocessed ores approaches, the 21st Century Business Herald reported. The bulk carrier Aeriko, loaded with nickel ore and operated by Shanghai Erli International Ship Management Co., was held at a port on the island of Sulawesi, the newspaper from the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou reported. The Herald cited Erli chief Chen Dusong, who said at least 10 Chinese ships in the area were being held. Chen wasn’t able to comment immediately when Bloomberg News contacted his office in Shanghai today. Two calls and a text message today to Indonesia’s director-general of customs, Agung Kuswandono, were unanswered.
