Fire in Strait of Gibraltar
The 'Advantae Summer' with 28 crew members on board, suffered a fire in the engine room in the evening of July 17, 2022, southwest of Tarifa in the Strait of Gbraltar, en route from Algeciras to Huelva. The tanker was disabled and had to to be taken in tow by SAR tug 'Luz de Mar' at 1.15 a.m. on July 18 and arrived back and moored at the Delta anchorage off Algeciras in pos. 36° 05.64' N 005° 19.45' W in the morning of July 18 at 5.15 a.m. The crew had managed to extinguish fire by own means, the extent of damages was unknown. Pirate attack off Egina
Pirates attacked the "Advantage Summer" in the morning of March 6, 2019. The attack took place 22 miles west of the Egina FPSO.
Vessel attacked in Malacca Straits
At about 0230 hrs on August 21, tanker Advantage Summer was underway when five perpetrators attempted to board the vessel at the stern from a speedboat. The crew was alerted, the perpetrators aborted the attempt and fled. The master reported incident to the VTIS via VHF.
