Passenger fell over board

Mon Jul 01 11:58:53 CEST 2024 Timsen

A male passenger of the 'Adora Magic City' climbed over the railing of the ship on the way from Shanghai to Jeju and fell into the sea on the morning of June 29, 2024, about 90 nautical miles from Jeju Island. The crew found the incident when they reviewed the ship's surveillance footage. The ship immediately returned to the waters where the passenger fell and launched SAR work immediately. After conducting nearly 13 hours of search and rescue work with assistance from Chinese maritime authorities, the Shanghai MRCC, the South Korean Coastguard as well as a nearby vessel in the area, the cruise resumed its established route acknowledged by the relevant maritime management department. The SAR efforts were still going on by other parties. The travel plan was delayed due to the incident, and the scheduled stop at Jeju port has been cancelled.
