Tanker released after captain was fined

The Georgian Coastguard has freed the "Marilena II" on Sep 7, 2011, after the ship's captain - the Romanian citizen Rtsean Constantini paid a fine of 50,000 lari. The Poti Court imposed the fine in accordance with the Georgian Code of Administrative Violations. The tanker was detained as a result of operational activities in the Batumi port for violating the navigation rules on Sep 5, 2011. The ship received back the right for free navigation on Sep 7.

Coast Guard Georgia detained on Sep 05 2011 Greece tanker Marilena II in Batumi port, Black sea, for “ violation of the local shipping rules”, said regional news agency. What rules exactly did the tanker violate, regional media didn’t bother to explain, as they usually do. Tanker’s Master Rtseana Konstantini was fined 50,000 Lari (30,000 USD), vessel will be released after collecting the fine.
