Ferry suffered engine malfunction

On the morning of Feb 19, 2025, the Port Authority of Samothrace was informed by the Captain of the 'Adamantios Korais', that the ship is unable to approach the port of Samothrace, due to a malfunction of the port side main engine in combination with adverse weather conditions. The ferry which was operating the scheduled route from Lavrio-Agios Efstratios-Myrina, continued its voyage, without disembarking three passengers and a private vehicle in Samothrace and sailed at reduced speed to the port of Alexandroupolis, where it safely disembarked eight passengers, three private vehicles and three trucks. The Central Port Authority of Alexandroupolis banned the ship from sailing. Following the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society, the sailing ban was lifted and the ship continued its voyage to the port of Samothrace.

Passenger ramp damaged in Alexandroupoli

In the morning hours of May 2, 2024, the Port Authority of Alexandroupoli was informed that during the mooring process of the 'Adamantios Koreis', en route from the port of Samothraki, the passenger ramp pulled the mooring cable which caused the ramp to deform and the lower plate to detach o a length of about 30 centimeters. The passengers disembarked safely, with no injuries reported. The Central Port Authority of Alexandroupoli banned the ferry from sailing until the damage was repaired. Upon presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society, it was allowed to sail to the port of Samothraki.

Ferry served as floating hospital due to fires in Greece

The "Adamantios Korais" has been temporarily turned into a floating hospital on Aug 22, 2023. Due to the recent fires in northern Greece, a complete hospital had to be evacuated at night and was set up on the ferry without further ado. In the meantime, the ferry has brought all the patients to the port of Kavala, where after their disembarkation the route to Samothraki was resumed at 10 p.m.
