Engine trouble off Corfu
The Central Port Authority of Corfu was informed on Dec 26, 2021, at noon about a mechanical damage of the 'Ionas'. The captain requested assistance, while the ship was sailing southeast of Corfu, operating a scheduled route from the port of Corfu to the port of Igoumenitsa, with 109 passengers, 44 vehicles and 14 crew members on board. A patrol boat rushed to the scene, and the 'Ioannis' also responded and escorted the ship, which reachedthe port of Corfu with own power. The Central Port Authority of Corfu banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness by the attending classification society. The passengers were forwarded to their destination aboard another ship.
Ferry suffered an electro-mechanical damage
The "Ionas", while preparing to depart from Corfu to Igoumenitsa, suffered an electro-mechanical damage on Jan 20, 2019. Corfu port inspectors arrived on board the vessel and identified the damage in the electrical system. The vessel was subsequently detained in port until the system was repaired and a class certificate of seaworthiness was issued. The 57 passengers on board were disembarked and transported to Igoumenitsa by another vessel.
Electrical problem in Corfu
In the morning of Sep 26, 2018, the Corfu Port Authority was informed by the captain of the "Ionas" that an electrical problem had occurred during the departure to its scheduled service from the new port of Corfu to the port of Igoumenitsa. The ferry thereupon was detained until the damage was rectified and a class certificate issued by the attending classification society. The ship had on board 59 passengers, 20 vehicles and one freight unit. All were safely disembarked and forwarded to their destination by other means. The ferry sailed again on Oct 19.
