Ship fined for pollution

The 'Skadi' was found guilty for discharging dirty and oily ballast water by the local municipality environmental pollution prevention department, due to breach of local regulation, as per Marpol rules, at Izmit on April 26, 2020. A fine of US$ 164,250.00 was imposed. The vessel's departure permission has been cancelled by the harbour master until the payment of fthe ine, along with cleaning expenses. The local authorities launched an investigation.

Lithuanian Shipping Co’s bulker sold at auction

Bankrupt Lithuanian Shipping Company (LSC) has sold two more bulk carriers at auction, which has raised $1.0m more than the vessels’ combined reserve prices. Voruta (17,800 dwt, built 1998), currently anchored at Las Palmas, Spain, had a reserve price of €1.72m but was sold to the highest bidder for €2.25m.

Lithuanian freighter Voruta under arrest at Aveiro since 76 days

General cargo vessel Voruta stranded in Aveiro port, Portugal, since May 8, with 19 crew on board. Vessel arrived from Halifax, and was arrested for operator’s debts by a court’s ruling.
