Allision with pilings and grounding
On Feb 02, 2012, at 01.25 a.m. the "A La Marine" ran into the embankment on the south shore of the Kiel Canal at Schülp enroute St. Petersburg - Zeebrügge. The ship veered off course after the bow thruster failed caused by an overload of the electrical system and subsequently a failure of the second generator which did not start. As a consequence the ship encountered rudder failure, drifted to port side and allided with pilings before getting stuck. The Kiel Canal was closed for ship traffic between Audorf and Breiholz. At 02.40 a.m. the ship refloated with own power and proceeded to Brunsbüttel where it berthed at the Navy Pilings for surveys. It suffered minor damage. The amount of damage to the pilings in the passing point was not yet assessed.
Tow and a half lost containers recovered
Two and a half of on the whole 10 lost 40-ft-containers of the "A la Marine" were salvaged until Jan 9, 2012. The multi purpose ship "Neuwerk" lifted one loaded and the debris of a split container on board on Jan 7, 2012, along with some amounts of driftwood. The tug "Wulf 3" pulled another 40-ft-container out of the sea in the foremidday of Jan 9 and delivered it at Cuxport in Cuxhaven.
