Port Services Corp, Abu Hakeem sign MoU to develop Port of Khasab

Port Services Corporation has awarded the contract for construction of various structures such as cargo platform, Operations Office, prayer hall, restaurant and rest room facilities at Port of Khasab in the Musandam Governorate, to M/s Abu Hakeem International LLC. These facilities were required after assessing with Ministry of Transport and Communications and other related authorities, the current situation and need for improvement in the services to the commercial boats and cruise vessels calling Port of Khasab. This is in line with Port Services Corporation’s obligation to enhance facilities at Port of Khasab as per their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ministry of Transport and Communications.

High speed ferry service linking Khasab with Bandar Abbas planned

The Oman state-owned National Ferries Company (NFC) plans to introduce a high speed ferry-based service linking Khasab, at the northernmost tip of the Sultanate, with Bandar Abbas in Iran across the Strait of Hormuz. According to NFC Chairman and CEO Mehdi al Abdwani, the new service ― which promises to enhance maritime and trade links between the two neighbours ― is expected to be launched before the end of this year.
