Tug sank in Sölvesborg
Tne tug "Tiger" sank in the enight from Feb 20 to 21, 2015, in Sölvesborg and caused an oil spill. The spread of oil could be contained with a boom of 300 meters length and oil absorbants. The JRCC was alerted on Feb 21 at 6 a.m. after only the mast of the tug was sticking out of the water which was five meters deep. The Rescue Sölvesborg dispatched the "Edna Bengtsson" and the "Lovisa Åstrand" of the station in Hörvik. The Swedish Coast Guard has assisted with supplies and the environmental rescue vessel "KBV 048" which started to soak up the oil inside the boom. Divers were sent down to plug the vents. In the morning of Feb 22 three mobile cranes lifted the wreck. The Coast Guard launched a preliminary investigation on crimes against water pollution law, was monitoring the salvage and continuing to investigate the cause of the spill.
