Hebei mulls transformation of Qinhuangdao Port
The Hebei government in China is considering to transform Qinhuangdao Port into a container and cruise port by relocating the coal terminal to another area, Chinese financial media Caixin has reported.
Qinhuangdao port to raise $717m in Hong Kong IPO
Hong Kong: China’s major coal handling port, Qinhuangdao port, is to raise up to US$717m in a Hong Kong IPO. The company started taking orders from investors on Monday Nov. 25, to sell 829.9m shares. To date, the company has secured $240m from seven investors.The port operator is scheduled to list in Hong Kong on 12 December. [Sino ShipNews 26/11/13]
Hebei province opens direct cargo route to Taiwan from Qinhuangdao
North China's Hebei province opened the first direct cargo route to Taiwan on Tuesday, with a ship loaded with 36,000 tons of coal leaving Qinhuangdao Port for Taiwan. The Wuxing 6 cargo ship left Qinhuangdao Port, China's largest coal transfer port, for the Taitung and Kaohsiung ports in Taiwan at about 11 am, marking the first cargo shipment between Hebei and Taiwan. The Wuxing 6 belongs to the Qinhuangdao Wuxing Shipping Company and received approval from the mainland's Transport Ministry in April to sail to Taiwan.
