Manta Port to build a new cruise passenger terminal

Thu Jul 20 11:00:03 CEST 2017 arnekiel

Terminal Portuario de Manta, a subsidiary of Chilean terminal operator Agunsa Group, is to manage and develop Ecuador’s port of Manta for the next 40 years, and will invest US$177 million to improve its facilities. Part of this US$177 million will be invested in building a new cruise passenger terminal, while the remaining funds will go towards extending the international pier by 100 metres, dredging the access channel to 12.5 metres (and then later to 14.5 metres), and purchasing cranes and other container and cargo handling equipment. Work will start this August and continue until July 2018. Manta handled 19 cruise calls and 18,065 passengers last year, and expects to handle an increased number of calls and cruise guests in 2017. Visitors will include vessels from Fred. Olsen Cruise Line, Silversea Cruises, Holland America Line, Phoenix Reisen, Crystal Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. http://www.cruiseandferry.net/articles/manta-port-to-build-a-new-cruise-passenger-terminal#.WXBw3Udt69I

Ecuador extends Manta port concession bid deadline

Thu Jun 26 09:38:36 CEST 2014 arnekiel

Ecuador state-owned Port Authority of Manta has further extended bid deadline for a $951m concession. The original deadline for the prequalified groups to present their proposals was 25 June but the Port Authority of Manta has extended the date until 25 August. The Ecuadorean Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) aims to award the concession contract on 28 October. The original bidding process for the concession in 2012 was cancelled when no bids were submitted. Three groups from France, Chile and Peru are prequalified: Bolloré África Logistics, Cosmos Agencia Marítima and the Neltume Marglobal consortium comprising Chilean firm Ultramar and Ecuador’s Marglobal. The 37-year concession is for the expansion of Manta into a deepwater port with a 16.2m draught capable of handling large vessels.

Ecuador to call tender for Manta port expansion

Tue Sep 03 07:09:10 CEST 2013 arnekiel

The Port Authority of Manta, on Ecuador’s Pacific coast, will re-launch the tender for a concession to expand the port, which has been postponed several times. The 25-year, $300m concession to expand and operate Manta port is scheduled to be re-launched before the end of this year. Meanwhile the government has announced it will increase its investment in infrastructure upgrades at the port of Manta by $10m, bringing the total to $80m. In addition to the $80m investment by the government, $30m will be required for equipment and that will be the responsibility of a private operator through an international tender. http://www.seatrade-global.com/news/americas/ecuador-to-call-tender-for-manta-port-expansion.html
