Japan’s JXTG halts crude shipments at Kiire terminal after quake
Japanese oil refiner JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy Corp has halted crude oil shipments from its Kiire storage terminal in Kagoshima, western Japan, on Tuesday July 11 following a strong earthquake that hit the southern Japanese island of Kyushu. JXTG Nippon Oil sometimes transports crude from various oil producers to Kiire via large tankers and unloads oil into the facility’s tanks. Then the company blends the crude depending on the needs of its refineries and ships the oil in smaller vessels. JXTG halted loading one coastal crude tanker with crude oil at 1:42 p.m. (0442 GMT) on Tuesday, a company spokeswoman said, adding the company has been checking any impact to the terminal. http://www.hellenicshippingnews.com/japans-jxtg-halts-crude-shipments-at-kiire-terminal-after-quake/
