Iran Detains Saudi Fishing Vessel off the coast of Bushehr Province
Iran has seized a Saudi fishing vessel in its territorial waters off the coast of Bushehr Province, Press TV reported on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 The vessel was detained on Tuesday after it entered Iran’s territorial waters, Col. Qalandar Lashkari, the commander of the coast guard of the province, said. He provided no details about the vessel or its crew. Iran and Saudi Arabia both border the Persian Gulf, with Iran covering most of the northern coast and Saudi Arabia most of the southern one.
Maersk Line halts Iran service
Maersk Line, the world's biggest container shipping company, has stopped port calls to Iran as Western sanctions pressure on the Islamic Republic mounts, a spokeswoman said on Tuesday, Reuters reports. In 2011 the U.S. blacklisted major Iranian port operator Tidewater Middle East Co, which operates seven terminals in Iran including the biggest container port Bandar Abbas. That led Maersk Line to suspended operations at several ports. Since 2011, it has called at the northern Iranian container port of Bushehr. The spokeswoman said Maersk Line halted loading cargo bound for Bushehr on Sept. 30, 2012 and stopped loading outbound cargo from Bushehr on Sept. 24.
Saudi Arabian vessel detained off Bushehr
As a result of joint IRGC-Iranian navy naval operation, a Saudi Arabian vessel was detained, Iranian Kayhan newspaper reported. According to the paper, the vessel was seized in the Persian Gulf, on Iranian territory, near Khurkhan settlement near Bushehr city of Iran. Four people were arrested for crossing Iran's sea borders. As a result of investigation, it was revealed that the detained vessel was a fishing one, with Indian fishermen on board. http://en.trend.az/regions/iran/1987095.html
