Libya's Largest Oil Port Begins Work

Libya has begun maintenance of the port of Es-Sider, biggest in the country of the terminal on oil export as part of plans to increase output from Africa’s biggest holder of crude reserves, says RNS. Exports should resume in a month once official orders are received to reopen the port, says Bloomberg quoting Galal Mohamed, head of operations at Waha Oil Co. Es-Sider is part of the plan of the authorities for increase in oil extraction. The port belongs to the Waha Oil company. It has been closed since December, 2014 because of armed attack. In half a year after start of port the company plans to come to amount of 75 thousand oil barrels a day. The state National Oil Corp. has engineers and other workers at the port to evaluate damages and decide when to resume exports, NOC’s Ibrahim Al-Awami said by phone. http://www.marinelink.com/news/largest-libyas-begins413575.aspx

Libya’s biggest crude oil export terminal could reopen in two weeks

Al Mabrook Bu Seif, the chairman of state-run National Oil (NOC), told Bloomberg over the weekend that his team will start contacting existing clients to coordinate crude exports from oil ports. Loading ports Seif told the news agency that force majeure could be lifted in two weeks on loadings at Es Sider, Libya’s largest export terminal and at neighbouring Ras Lanuf, the third-largest, as Islamist militias pulled out from the region.

New fighting breaks out near biggest Libyan oil port

Libyan armed factions accused each other on Monday of launching new attacks near the country’s largest oil port, Es Sider. Two opposing governments — the internationally recognised authorities in the east and rivals who have seized the capital, Tripoli — are fighting for control of the country.
