Collision off Singapore
In the afternoon of Feb 10, 2014, the "Zoey" was in collision with the "Hammonia Thracium" in the Singapore Strait, off Sebarok Island, 10 km south of mainland Singapore. The departing containership and the "Zoey" collided around 3.35 p.m. MPA's Port Operations Control Centre had provided traffic information to the two vessels and alerted the "Zoey" that the "Hammonia Thracium" was crossing the traffic line. The "Hammonia Thracium" suffered damage to one of her bunker tanks, resulting in spillage of some 80 metric tonnes of bunker fuel. The MPA immediately dispatched four patrol craft to deal with the spillage. Oil response companies have also been activated to support the clean-up efforts. The two vessels wre in stable condition outside of Singapore's port limits and while assessing their situations. The port operations remained unaffected. The MPA was investigating the cause of the collision.
