Egypt Receives LNG Shipment from Australia
Egypt received a cargo of liquefied natural gas from Australia after the exporter sent two shipments to the region in the past two years, signaling increasing demand, reports The Daily Star. The Woodside Rogers tanker arrived at Egypt's Ain Sokhna terminal Thursday after loading at Australia's Dampier port on May 12, according to ship-tracking data on Bloomberg. The 159,760-cubic-metre cargo aboard the Woodside Rogers loaded at the port of Dampier, which serves as the loading point for two LNG export plants, Pluto and North West Shelf.
First of Seven Tri-Fuel LNG Carriers to Enter Service in July 2013
The Woodside Rogers was built by Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for Maran Gas, the Gas Shipping unit of Greek shipping group Angelicoussis Shipping Group Limited, and is the first of seven LNG carriers incorporating the propulsion technology that Maran Gas has ordered from DSME for delivery between now and 2015. The electric drive system is powered by tri-fuel engines that run on natural gas, marine diesel gas, or heavy fuel oil. The operator could potentially save money by switching to use the lowest price fuel, it said.
